Saint Louis University head men's basketball coach Rick Majerus today announced that 6-foot-2 guard Jordair Jett (St. Paul, Minn. / Notre Dame Prep) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and play for the Billikens. Jett will have four years of eligibility beginning with the 2010-11 academic year.
"Jordair Jett's signing gives us a highly competitive and tough-minded, physical player," Majerus said. "Jordair has the ability to become a fantastic defender as well as get to the rim and take it to you from the perimeter. His athletic ability excites us, as does his passion for the game. Jordair sees the floor well. He is unselfish and should frequently be able to get to the free throw line."
A native of St. Paul, Minn., Jett graduated from St. Bernard's High School and scored more than 1,000 points during his career. As a senior, he averaged 20 points, five assists and five steals. In a game against PACT Charter School, Jett registered a quadruple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and 10 steals. He was a second-team Associated Press All-State selection and was chosen first-team All-Conference. Jett led his team to a 28-4 record and a berth in the Minnesota 2A state championship game for the first time in program history.
Jett moved on to play one year at Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass. For coach Ryan Hurd, he averaged a team-high 14 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists. Jett helped the Crusaders to a 27-7 record and the No. 4 seed at the 2010 National Prep Championship tournament.
Jett joins 6-foot-5 forward Dwayne Evans (Bolingbrook, Ill. / Neuqua Valley), 6-foot-11 forward Rob Loe (Auckland, New Zealand / Westlake) and 6-foot-1 guard Mike McCall (Chicago, Ill. / Foreman) in Saint Louis' four-man class.
