THE BASICS
• Saint Louis mounted a furious fourth-quarter rally and created a one-possession game after trailing by double digits, but Fordham held on for a 54-51 Atlantic 10 Conference victory over the Billikens Wednesday night at Rose Hill Gym.
• Ciaja Harbison (6-of-11 FG) tied for game-high honors in scoring (16 points) and steals (three). Harbison was joined in double figures by Brooke Flowers (12 points) and Kerri McMahan (10 points).
• Flowers pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds, including a career-high eight offensive boards, for her seventh double-double of the season. Evan Zars turned in a third consecutive nine-rebound effort.
FIRST QUARTER
• Following 2-2 and 4-4 ties, Saint Louis took the first-quarter lead for good on a Harbison jumper. McMahan's 3-pointer made it 9-4 Billikens.
• The margin floated between two and five points until Fordham's 3-pointer at the buzzer made it 18-17 SLU.
SECOND QUARTER
• Fordham took a 19-18 lead with 8:36 remaining. That was the first of seven second-quarter lead changes.
• The final lead swap saw the Rams go in front 27-25 with 4:13 left. Fordham took a 31-27 advantage to the locker room at intermission.
THIRD QUARTER
• Flowers' bucket with 8:24 left cut the Fordham lead to two, but the Rams went on a 14-4 outburst to create a 45-33 cushion at the 3:15 mark.
• Baskets by Jordyn Frantz and Harbison on consecutive possessions trimmed the margin to eight before Fordham scored late for a 47-37 edge heading to the fourth quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
• Fordham led 50-38 with 6:45 remaining when Saint Louis began its rally.
• Harbison started the comeback with two free throws. Tasia Jeffries and Flowers registered a basket apiece, and Jeffries sank three of four free throws to whittle the SLU deficit to three, 50-47, at the 1:44 mark.
• Harbison answered two Fordham free throws with a bucket and two free throws of her own, and it was 52-51 Fordham with 22 seconds left.
• After a Fordham free throw made it a two-point game, the Billikens had two chances to tie or take the lead on their next possession but could not convert. A final free throw accounted for the final score.
