Saint Louis | Evansville | A-10 |
Saint Louis puts its unblemished record on the line Saturday afternoon when it hosts Evansville at Chaifetz Arena. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
The game will be televised nationally on NBCSN. Mike Corey and Dr. John Giannini will call the action. Please note that, as part of the Atlantic 10's national television package, Saturday's game will not be simulcast on ESPN+.  Â
The Billikens' radio broadcast can be heard on the new Voice of the Billikens, KMOX 1120 AM, and radio.com. As always, Billiken Hall of Famers Bob Ramsey and Earl Austin Jr. will be on the call.
Saint Louis, which continues to receive votes in the AP Top 25 and Coaches' polls, enters Saturday's game 4-0. The Billikens are getting it done on both sides of the ball, averaging 92.3 ppg on offense and giving up 63.0 ppg on defense. Both figures lead the Atlantic 10. Five players score in double figures for SLU – Javonte Perkins (19.8 ppg), Gibson Jimerson (15.0 ppg), Jordan Goodwin (13.3 ppg), Hasahn French (10.5 ppg) and Demarius Jacobs (10.0 ppg).
Evansville (1-3) is coming off its first victory of the season, a 68-65 win over Eastern Illinois on Wednesday. The Purple Aces finished 9-23 last year.Â
This will be the 30th meeting between the Billikens and Aces in a series dating all the way to 1926, though it is the first meeting between the teams since 1998. The Billikens lead the all-time series 15-14. The teams were rivals in the 1980s/early 1990s as conference foes in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference.
All men's and women's basketball games at Chaifetz Arena will be played without fans until further notice. For more information, click here.Â
Here are five additional facts in advance of Saturday's game against Evansville:Â
1 // Among active NCAA Division I players, Hasahn French is third and Jordan Goodwin is fourth with 854 and 826 career rebounds, respectively. Only Terry Taylor (Austin Peay, 1,006) and Loudon Love (Wright State, 904) have more career rebounds.Â
2 // Goodwin matched his career high with six steals against Central Arkansas, and in doing so became the Billikens' all-time steals leader surpassing Billiken great Anthony Bonner. Goodwin enters the Evansville game with 194 career steals (and counting...).
3 // Yuri Collins dished out nine assists and had no turnovers in the Bills' last game against Central Arkansas, and he also registered a career-high 12 points against the Bears. Collins leads the NCAA in assist-turnover ratio (9.67) among players who have played four or more games.
4 // SLU posted a Chaifetz Arena-record 16 steals against Central Arkansas, one game after matching the previous Chaifetz Arena mark of 14 against UAPB. The 16 steals against Central Arkansas are the most by a Billiken squad since the 2003-04 team registered 16 steals in back-to-back games against Savannah State (11/24/03) and North Carolina A&T (11/29/03).  Â
5Â // The Billikens are aiming for their first 5-0 start since 2013-14.
