Billikens, Bears End in Scoreless Draw

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis and Missouri State played to a 0-0 draw Tuesday night in non-conference men's soccer action at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

The Billikens (2-2-2) now embark on a six-game road swing beginning Friday at Clemson. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CT). Missouri State moves to 3-4-1.

"It was a very touch-and-go game," SLU head coach Mike McGinty said. "I thought we had a couple of decent looks, but there weren't many clear-cut chances for either team. Missouri State did a good job sticking to its game plan. We now have to move forward to Clemson and put this one behind us."

SLU outshot the Bears 8-6 and owned a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. SLU keeper Nick Shackelford was forced to make just one save on a shot from distance in picking up his second-straight clean sheet.

The Billikens outshot the Bears 4-2 in a scoreless first half. Sito Sasieta loft into the box, but MSU keeper Alex Riggs dove to the far post to make the save. Later in the half, Benny Estes headed just high.

In the second half, Jake Brown crossed a ball in to Roeckle who headed a shot toward frame, but Riggs was there to collect it. In overtime, Riggs and the Missouri State defense fought off several SLU corner kicks and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

The Billiken defense held Missouri State in check all night, not allowing a dangerous scoring opportunity in the 110 minutes.
