No. 13 Billikens Play to 2-2 Draw at Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio – Saint Louis twice fought back from a goal down to salvage a 2-2 draw at Dayton Saturday night in a key Atlantic 10 Conference matchup at Baujan Field.

The Billikens, unbeaten in their last three, move to 10-3-2 overall and 3-1-2 in the A-10. The Flyers move to 6-4-4 and 2-1-2 in the league.

"Tonight was just a great game," SLU head coach Mike McGinty said. "Dayton is a strong team and is very good playing at home. I'm extremely proud of our guys – they came back not once but twice to get something out of this place, which is not easy to do. The team effort tonight was fantastic."

SLU Starters – GK: Sascha Otte. D: Julian Gieseke, Max Karcher, Anthony Manning. MF: Marco Heskamp, David Graydon, Raymond Lee, Tyler David, Francisco Vizcaino. F: Kingsley Bryce, Robert Kristo.

SLU Subs – Francisco Vizcaino (Pavisic), second half.

SLU Goals – Lee (Pavisic), 12:06; Manning (PK), 87:06.

Dayton got on the board first with a goal in the ninth minute, but it didn't take long for SLU to respond. In the 13th minute, Filip Pavisic sent a ball across the box that found Raymond Lee. Lee's shot found its way through traffic and into the goal to make it a 1-1 game. It was Lee's second goal of the season.

The score remained 1-1 at the break.

It was scoreless in the second half until the Flyers took the lead at the 76:13 mark. But once again, the Billikens responded with a goal of their own. With less than three minutes remaining in regulation, Anthony Manning converted a penalty kick for the equalizer. It was Manning's fifth goal of the season, and his third off the penalty spot.

SLU outshot the Flyers 15-13. Each team managed two corners. SLU keeper Sascha Otte made two saves.

The Billikens return to action next Sunday, Nov. 2, when they host Rhode Island at Hermann Stadium at 2 p.m. SLU will recognize its six seniors prior to kickoff.
