The Basics
Saint Louis received goals from Max Karcher and Saadiq Mohammed in a 2-1 win over George Mason Saturday night in Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer action at Hermann Stadium.

It was the fourth win in a row for the Billikens, who move to 5-4-3 overall and 4-0 in A-10 play. At the midway point of the conference season, the Billikens are in first place in the league. George Mason falls to 2-9-1 overall and 0-4 in A-10 play.

Saint Louis was on the attack early in the match. In the eighth minute, Mohammed struck a ball that glanced off the Mason keeper's fingertips before ringing off the crossbar.

Moments later, Karcher put the Billikens on top. Joe Saad slotted a ball to Karcher on the left side of the box, and with his left foot lifted a ball into the far side netting for the first goal of the game.

Mason equalized in the 36th minute on a Saint Louis own goal. There was a pass into the box that a SLU defender intended to slide to intercept, but he inadvertently deflected the ball over SLU keeper Ben Yeager to make the score 1-1.

That remained the score until the 82nd minute when Mohammed tallied the game-winning goal. Anthony Brown had the ball in the corner and fed Mohammed, who turned and fired into the far side netting for his third goal in as many games.

Karcher and Mohammed are the team scoring leaders with three goals apiece.

Yeager, making his third start for the Billikens, made five saves.
