ST. LOUIS – More than 300 golfers, an event record, helped make the 37th Annual Billiken Golf Classic presented by Stifel Nicolaus a rousing success. The sold-out event, which was held last month at Norwood Hills Country Club, raised funds to benefit the Saint Louis University Department of Athletics.

"Any time you have the opportunity to get together as a community to support our student-athletes, it is a great day,” SLU Director of Athletics Chris May said. “On behalf of the department, I would like to thank the staff, volunteers and sponsors for helping to make it such a great event. I would like to extend a special thank you to Stifel Nicolaus for serving as the presenting sponsor.”

"Additionally, a successful golf tournament would not happen without the hours of support given by our board.," May said. "I would like to thank Kim Tucci, Mike Shanahan Jr., Steve Baden, Carl Harshman, Jaron Wedding and Peter Huey for their hard work and dedication to putting on a spectacular event."

Following the golf, SLU raised funds at its annual dinner auction, which featured a live and silent auction. New SLU men's basketball coach Travis Ford and women's basketball coach Lisa Stone addressed the crowd.
