ST. LOUIS – The Saint Louis University department of athletics hosted a Girls on the Run practice 5K on Sunday, April 28, on the SLU campus.
Girls from seven area schools took part in the practice 5K, held in advance of the Girls on the Run 5K set for May 11 in downtown St. Louis.
Not only did the girls have a chance to practice running, but they also had the opportunity to interact with Billiken student-athletes from the basketball, cheer and dance, cross country/track & field, soccer and swimming & diving teams.
“This was such a special event for our Girls on the Run,” said Lisa Mulligan, Program Director of Girls on the Run. “Many of the girls and families have never been on campus before, and the experience of being cheered on by the female Billiken athletes was powerful. The support of SLU helps our girls realize their potential and truly believe that they can cross the finish line on May 11 and beyond.”
