What factors led you to choose Saint Louis University to continue your education and play your sport?
The women's soccer team was a big part of my decision. This team has a culture like no one else and is a group of incredibly competitive people who will push each other to be the best while having so much fun and support from everyone. Another reason I chose SLU was its great business school, where I am majoring in accounting. It had the exact program I wanted, with great teachers and amazing facilities to give me all the resources I need to succeed.
Â
Who is someone who has inspired you or guided you along your path to get to Saint Louis University?
My parents were a big part of my process leading to SLU. They provided me with every tool and support I needed, athletically and academically, to succeed growing up. They constantly pushed and encouraged me to put everything I had into the things I loved (such as soccer) and to challenge myself academically so I could have the future I wanted. My parents never missed a single game or academic achievement and made sure I knew how supported I was.
Â
What are you studying at SLU, and what are your future aspirations?
I am an accounting major at SLU. I want to further my education toward a master's degree and possibly continue to get my CPA. I would like to work in the banking industry, either in financial accounting or financial services.
Â
What has been your most memorable moment as a student at Saint Louis University?
This has to do with athletics as well, but last year when we hosted the A-10 tournament, one of our games was during my economics class time, and the professor took the class time to have the class go to our game to watch and support. It was amazing how one of our professors wanted to take the time to show his support for our athletic team and his student, as well as encourage the class to also show their support. It really highlights how amazing our school community is.
Â
What has been your most memorable moment as a student-athlete?
I can't choose which one is most memorable, so I would have to say winning both the conference regular season and A-10 tournament back-to-back my sophomore and junior years. This is something we put our everything into all year, and for all that hard work to pay off two years in a row is very rewarding. On top of this, making it to the NCAA tournament both years was an amazing experience and even more special because of the people I got to do it with.
Â
What is the best sporting event you've ever attended, and what made it memorable?
Watching the NWSL championship in 2013 with my club soccer team was a really cool experience. What made it memorable was the forward for Portland Thrones, one of the teams playing, was a very well-known Canadian soccer player, Christine Sinclair. Playing with her was Tobin Heath, a very well-known U.S. National player. On the other team were Carli Lloyd and Abby Wambach, making it a great game to watch.
Â
What do you consider to be the best qualities you bring to the team, both in and outside of competition?
I bring a very competitive and athletic aspect to the field, and I like to be supportive and bring positive energy and laughs to the team.
Â
If you were to take your teammates to your hometown, what is the one attraction you would take them to first?
I would probably take them into the city of Toronto. There is so much to do there, and it's a very pretty city to see. I would also take them to Niagara Falls, it is a really cool waterfall and a place you'd have to see.
Â
What is one thing people would be surprised to discover about your hometown or home country?
It is not covered in snow. :)
Â
If you were hosting your teammates for a meal in your hometown, where would you go, or what would you cook for them?
I would take them to Copacabana. It is a really good Brazilian steakhouse in the city and one of my favorite places to go.
