ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis forward
Simon Becher was named to the 2021 United Soccer Coaches Men's Scholar All-America team, the organization announced.
Â
A finance major and the 2021 Atlantic 10 Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Becher led the Billikens in scoring and finished second in the NCAA with 38 points (14G, 10A). He was one of 15 Hermann Trophy semifinalists. Becher will graduate Saturday with a bachelor's degree from the Saint Louis University Chaifetz School of Business.
Â
Becher has 71 career points (28G, 15A), ranking him 22nd in that category among all active NCAA Division I players. In addition to being named A-10 Offensive Player of the Year this season, Becher earned first-team All-Conference honors and was named a National Player of the Week by Top Drawer Soccer. Also, Becher earned Academic All-Conference honors for his work in the classroom.
Â
Becher transferred to SLU after beginning his collegiate career at Holy Cross, where he was a third-team All-Patriot League selection as a freshman. He has been called to U.S. National Team camps on three occasions.
Â
Becher helped the 2021 Billikens to a memorable season. SLU went through the regular season without a loss for the first time in 50 years, earned a national seed in the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time since 2003. Saint Louis finished the season with a 16-1-4 record.
