SEATTLE – No. 2 seed Washington scored twice during a 4½-minute stretch in the first half and held on to defeat No. 10 Saint Louis 2-0 Saturday night in an NCAA Championship quarterfinal match at Husky Soccer Stadium.
Saint Louis, which was playing in a national quarterfinal for the first time since 2003, concluded the season with a 16-1-4 record. The Billikens captured Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season and tournament championships and ascended to No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches rankings.
Washington (17-1-2) advances to face Georgetown in the national semifinals.
Gio Miglietti scored both Washington goals, the first coming at 21:00 and the second at 25:32.
SLU earned advantages of 17-13 in total shots and 8-6 in corner kicks.
