DAYTON, Ohio – Fordham scored twice in the second half to upend 2-1 on Thursday in an Atlantic 10 Conference Championship semifinal match at Dayton's Baujan Field.
SLU, the No. 2 seed, falls to 9-5. The third-seed Rams (5-0-2) advance to the A-10 Championship match on Saturday against George Washington.
The Billikens got on the scoreboard first on a Fordham own goal in the 35th minute.
Christian Buendia started the play when he whipped a ball into the box. A Fordham defender inadvertently deflected it into the net to make it 1-0 Billikens.
That remained the score at halftime.
Patrick Schulte was sharp in next for the Billikens in the first 45 minutes, posting four saves to keep the Rams off the scoreboard.
Both Fordham goals occurred just minutes apart. Matt Sloan registered the equalizer in the 55th minute. Albert Pangrazzi scored the eventual game-winner in the 58th minute.
Saint Louis continued to battle, including a sequence in the Fordham end as time expired, but was unable to slip on past the Fordham keeper. SLU out-shot the Rams 12-5 and had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Schulte finished with six saves.
