Billikens Top Blackburn 9-1

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis improved to 7-4-1 on the year with a 9-1 victory over Blackburn Tuesday night at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

SLU tied the Hermann Stadium record with nine goals and set the Hermann Stadium record with 44 shots. It was the most goals scored by the Bills since the season opener against Vanderbilt in 2000, which SLU won 9-0.

Mads Stistrup Petersen scored twice. Also scoring for SLU was Seth Anderson, John Klein, Alberto Suarez, Matteo Boasso, Brogan Townsend, Erich Legut and Enzo Okpoye.

Caleb Iverson had two assists. Also credited with assists were Anderson, Klein, Petersen, Donny Ross, Christian Buendia, Brian Johnson and Dylan Olson.

With a goal and assist tonight, Klein improves his career scoring total to 81 points (28G, 25A), which is 17th in school history and two points shy of Tom Hayes (1982-85) in 16th. Klein is now one of just two active players in NCAA Division I men's soccer with at least 25 goals and 25 assists, the other being Xavier's Alejandro Steinwascher. Additionally, Klein is now tied with Jack Jewsbury for 12th on the Billikens' career assists chart with 25.

The Billikens return to Atlantic 10 Conference play on Saturday night when they take on George Washington in a 7 p.m. kickoff at Hermann Stadium.
