ST. LOUIS – The Saint Louis University Department of Athletics enjoyed a highly successful "Get HER in the Game" fundraiser Thursday, Oct. 13, at Lorenzini's restaurant inside Chaifetz Arena.

Thanks to a $25,000 matching gift from an anonymous donor, a total of more than $65,000 was raised for the scholarship - a fundraising record for the event. This year's event was the 18th edition of the Get HER in the Game fundraiser in support of scholarship and athletics opportunities for women student-athletes at SLU.

Jordan Kantola, a freshman nutrition and dietetics major from Thayer, Mo., of the Billikens' cross country and track and field teams was the recipient of this year's Get HER in the Game scholarship.  She joined an outstanding panel with Kathryn Sansone (B.A. - Education, volleyball), Jodi Petersen (B.S. - Business Administration, basketball) and Kristi Stevenson (B.S. - Accounting & Finance, Master of Business Administration, softball) as they spoke about the 50th Anniversary of Title IX and their experiences as student-athletes at SLU.

"We couldn't be happier with the turn out from this year's Get HER in the Game fundraiser," Billikens' Director of Athletics Chris May said. "We're especially grateful for the contributions that were made to enhance athletics opportunities for our women student-athletes here at SLU.

"We're incredibly thankful for the generosity of our matching gift donor who helped us raise a record amount, May said. "Additionally, we appreciate the support of our title sponsor, Lewis Rice, and the Missouri Athletic Club, who sponsored the cocktail reception. We would also like to thank the Get HER in the Game committee for its hard work, time and efforts. The department's commitment to excellence in women's athletics helps ensure this vital initiative will continue to thrive in the future."
