Lipscomb Edges Billikens, 2-1

ST. LOUIS – No. 10 Saint Louis dropped a 2-1 decision to Lipscomb Sunday night at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

The Billikens dip to 0-2 with the loss, while Lipscomb improves to 2-0. The teams waited out more than an hour delay at the onset due to storms in the St. Louis area.

The game got off to a wild start, with both teams scoring on PKs in the first 13 minutes. Christian Buendia buried his chance in the 11th minute after Lipscomb was whistled for a foul in the box.

Less than two minutes later, the referee returned to favor and awarded Lipscomb a penalty kick. Jelldrik Dallmann converted to chance in the 13th minute for the equalizer. The score was 1-1 heading into halftime.

Hayes Wood got the game-winning tally for Lipscomb at the 68:08 mark of the second half. After a great save by SLU starting keeper Carlos Tofern, Wood pounced on a loose ball in the box and scored for the 2-1 final.

Up next for the Billikens is a road matchup at Creighton on Friday, Sept. 2. Kick time at Morrison Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska, is set for 6:30 p.m.
