Saint Louis men's soccer alum Patrick Schulte was named the MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Year, the league announced today.
 
Playing for Columbus Crew 2 in the inaugural season of MLS NEXT Pro, Schulte started 15 games and allowed just 15 total goals. His goals against average (1.00) and winning percentage (.667) were the best in the league among goalkeepers who played in more than half their team's matches. Schulte's 10 wins were tied for the most in MLS NEXT Pro and his seven shutouts were second in the league.
 
A member of Generation adidas, Schulte was selected in the first round (12th overall) by the Crew in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft after a stellar three-year career with the Billikens. He was the Atlantic 10 Conference's Defensive Player of the Year in 2020 and was a first-team All-Conference pick in 2021. He helped the Billikens to a 16-1-4 record and an NCAA quarterfinal appearance last season.
 
In 51 appearances in his Billiken career, Schulte posted a 0.84 goals against average, 22 shutouts, and a 35-12-4 record.
