Gillen Named Most Outstanding Performer of A-10 Indoor Championships

KINGSTON, R.I. – For the second year in a row, Saint Louis' Toby Gillen was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Most Outstanding Performer at the A-10 Indoor Track and Field Championships, which were held this weekend at Mackal Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Rhode Island.
 
Gillen captured the gold medal in both the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters. He ran a time of 8:10.66 in the 3,000 meters, breaking the meet record en route to earning the gold. Gillen also repeated as the A-10 champion in the 5,000 meters, finishing in a time 14:13.89.
 
Also earning a medals at the A-10 Championships were Harrison Martinenko and Matt de Haas, who both brought home silvers. Martinenko was the A-10 runner-up in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:26.95. De Haas finished second overall in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 1:55.42.
 
Madi Person just missed the podium in the Pentathlon as she placed fourth with a school-record 3,452 points.
 
As a team, the Billiken men placed fifth overall, while the women's team finished 13th.
