O'FALLON, Ill. – SIUE captured the final two singles matches and edged Saint Louis 4-3 Thursday afternoon at St. Clair Tennis Club.
 
"We had opportunities today to step up in singles, but we had slow starts in the first set which put us in trouble," head coach Justin Stuckey said.
 
The Billikens claimed the doubles point with two victories. Norhan Hesham and Mya Spencer defeated Jill Lambrechts and Jordan Schifano 7-6 (7-4) at No. 1, while Ksenia Aleshina and Elizabeth Mintusova were 6-3 winners over Margaux Guibal Britt and Amelia Gorman at No. 2.
 
Spencer rallied for an 0-6, 6-4, 6-0 No. 6 singles win over Caitlyn Sporing to even the match at 2-2, and Hesham gave the Billikens a 3-2 lead by topping Guibal Britt 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2. However, the Cougars prevailed at Nos. 5 and 1 to take the decision.
