CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Saint Louis took part in the inaugural Gary Wieneke Memorial this weekend at Demirjian Park at the University of Illinois.
Will Stewart set a new school record in the 200 meters, crossing the finish in 21.48 to place fourth overall and top the previous record of 21.75, which was set last year by
Myles Gascon.
Several other Billikens placed in the top three in their respective events.
Emily Nichols won the 400 meters in a time of 57.39.
Madi Person was second in the long jump with a mark of 5.73 meters, and also placed third in both the 100-meter hurdles (14.25) and the 200 meters (24.87).
Madeline Rowold improved her personal-best distance in the javelin, tossing 42.71 meters to win the event.
Evan Bruenderman and
Jayden Kouadio placed first and second in the triple jump with distances of 13.99 meters and 13.91 meters, respectively.
Danny Hopkins placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 48.97.
Craig Putnam was third in the javelin with a heave of 43.12 meters.
Up next, Saint Louis heads to Iowa next week for the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open. The Atlantic 10 Conference Championships are in two weeks at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
