A-10 Championship Central
ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis is the No. 3 seed for the 2023 Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Tennis Championship scheduled for Wednesday-Saturday, April 26-29, at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The No. 3 position matches the highest A-10 Championship seeding in program history. The Billikens were the No. 3 seed for the 2009 tournament.
SLU (15-5), which received a first-round bye, faces No. 6 Dayton (13-10) in a quarterfinal match of the single-elimination tournament Thursday at 6 p.m. Central. A victory over the Flyers would match the Billikens against either No. 2 Richmond (13-8), No. 7 St. Bonaventure (10-9) or No. 10 Fordham (7-11) in Friday's semifinals at 4:30 p.m. St. Bonaventure and Fordham square off in Wednesday's first round.
Saturday's title match is slated for 4:30 p.m. The winner of the A-10 Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
Saint Louis and Dayton did not meet during the regular season.
"Dayton will be a good test for us," head coach
Justin Stuckey said. "They always compete hard, so we will need to be ready to match that with our energy."
Joining St. Bonaventure and Fordham in Wednesday's opening round are No. 8 Duquesne (8-7) and No. 9 Saint Joseph's (8-7-1); the winner of that match meets No. 1 seed and five-time defending champion VCU (17-5) in the quarterfinals. The quarterfinal round also features No. 4 Davidson (8-10) vs. No. 5 George Mason (7-7).
