ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University head women's soccer coach
Katie Shields announced the addition of forward Ella Nelson (Kansas City, Mo./Park Hill H.S./Kansas City Scott Gallagher) to the Billikens' 2023 recruiting class.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ella to our program," Shields said. "She is a tremendous addition to an incredibly talented 2023 recruiting class.
"Ella provides dynamic attacking versatility and a tremendous physical presence in our attacking group," Shields said. "She will create goal-scoring opportunities out of her 1v1 abilities in the wide areas, as well as score goals both in the box and from distance. Additionally, Ella brings a positive personality and growth mindset that will add to our championship culture."
Nelson was selected Most Valuable Player of the Midwest ID Camp, and she is a three-year participant in Missouri ODP. She is a member of the Kansas City Scott Gallagher Elite team that won a state championship in 2022 and qualified for 2023 regional and national tournaments.
At Park Hill, Nelson is in her fourth year of varsity competition and is serving as a team captain this season. She was an All-District and All-Conference performer in 2022 and an All-District selection in 2021. Nelson has led the Trojans in assists in each of the past three seasons.
Nelson was named to the 2021 and 2022 All-State Academic team, and she is a member of National Honor Society.
