Mikayla McDowell anchored the Billikens' record-setting 4x200-meter relay at the Drake Relays
Saint Louis outdoor track and field competed this weekend at the Kip Janvrin Open at Simpson College and the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines. It was the final meet for the Billikens before next weekend's Atlantic 10 Conference Championships at UMass.
Numerous Billikens reached PRs in the meets, and two school records fell as well.
At the Drake Relays, the men's sprint medley relay set a new school record with a time of 3:27.27. The team was comprised of
Will Stewart,
Danny Hopkins,
Malik Stewart at
Matt de Haas.
The women's 4x200-meter relay set a school record, finishing in 1:39.95 at the Drake Relays to place fourth overall.
Madi Person,
Emily Nichols,
Jaila Robinson and
Mikayla McDowell combined to form the record-setting relay.
Also at the Drake Relays, Nichols ran a season-best time of 55.87 in the 400 meters to place fifth.
Madeline Rowold PR'd in the javelin with a mark of 43.03 meters.
Evan Bruenderman turned in a fifth-place finish in the triple jump at the Drake Relays with a distance of 14.72 meters.
Jayden Kouadio leaped 14.36 meters in the triple jump, good for seventh.
The A-10 Championships begin Saturday, May 6, in Amherst, Massachusetts.
