Billikens Compete at Fighting Illini Challenge

CHAMPAIGN, Illinois – After having last week's Billiken Invitational canceled due to weather, Saint Louis resumed its outdoor track and field season at the Fighting Illini Challenge. It was the season opener for the majority of the team.

Diego Collado, competing in the shot put for the first time this outdoor season, improved his own school record in the event by posting a distance of 15.99 meters. That bettered his previous record of 15.90 meters set last season.

Jayden Kouadio won the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.29 meters, just ahead of teammate Evan Bruederman who finished second (14.26 meters). Matt de Haas came in fifth in the men's 800 meters.

Madeline Rowald placed fourth in the women's javelin (39.17 meters), while Angelina White was eighth in the women's discus (39.48 meters).

The Billikens are back in action next weekend at the Cougar Classic at SIUE. Additionally, a group of athletes will head to California to take part in the Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational.

Full results are coming soon.
