•Saint Louis owns national rankings of No. 15 by College Soccer News and No. 17 by Top Drawer Soccer. The Bills received votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll.
•SLU and Creighton are meeting for the first time since 2001. The Billikens lead the series 2-0, defeating the Bluejays 2-0 at home in 2000 and 2-1 in overtime in Omaha, Neb., in 2001.
•The Billikens began the season last week by splitting two games in Utah. SLU was edged 3-2 by BYU in the opener, with
Caroline Kelly and
Emily Gaebe providing the goals and
Izzy Luebbert notching an assist.
•The Bills bounced back three days later to blank Utah State 2-0 as
Emily Puricelli became the winningest goalkeeper in program history with her 49th victory.
Sophia Stram and
Hannah Sawyer scored the goals on corner kicks served by
Hannah Larson, who posted the first two-assist game of her Saint Louis career.
•In addition to setting the school record for career wins in the Utah State game,
Emily Puricelli registered her 30th career shutout to tie Mary Niehaus (2016-17, 19) for second on the Billikens' all-time list. Meghann Burke (1999-2002) owns the school record of 38 clean sheets.
•
Caroline Kelly's goal at BYU was her 20th as a Billiken, placing her in a 10th-place tie on the Saint Louis career list.
•Saint Louis is 62-7-6 (.867) in its last 75 games at Hermann Stadium, a stretch that dates to the final home game of the 2015 campaign. In those 75 games, SLU outscored opponents 164-30, posted 47 shutouts, and allowed more than one goal just twice.
•Creighton was picked to finish fifth in the 2023 Big East race after tying for fourth in the final standings a year ago. The Bluejays opened with two home matches, tying future SLU opponent Nebraska 2-2 and falling 3-1 to Missouri.
