RICHMOND, Va. – In the Atlantic 10 Conference opener for both teams, Saint Louis and VCU played to a scoreless draw Friday night at Sport Backer Stadium in Richmond, Virginia.
The Billikens move to 1-3-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the A-10. VCU is now 0-3-3 overall and 0-0-1 in the league.
Jeremi Abonnel made a season-high six saves for his first shutout as a Billiken. The SLU defense fought off 13 VCU corner kicks, including 10 in the second half alone, to keep the clean sheet.
The Billikens host Oral Roberts (4-1-1) on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. at Hermann Stadium. It's SLU's first game back at Hermann Stadium since the season opener on Aug. 24.
