ST. LOUIS – Student-athletes in the Saint Louis University Department of Athletics achieved an aggregate grade point average of 3.48 for the fall 2023 semester. The GPA encompasses SLU's 18 sports as well as the Billikens' cheer and dance teams.
"Billiken student-athletes embrace our top strategic objective, to educate, with remarkable enthusiasm and dedication," Director of Athletics Chris May said. "One of the hallmarks of our athletics program is consistently high academic achievement, and that tradition certainly was continued during the fall semester.
"Our young men and women are aware of the value of a SLU education and work hard to take full advantage of their opportunities," May said. "We are grateful for their efforts and appreciative of the support they receive from faculty, administrators, coaches, support staff and family members."
Leading the way was the Billiken women's swimming and diving team, which posted a 3.78 GPA. Billiken softball was a close second at 3.73.
Also turning in GPAs above 3.5 were women's cross country (3.69), women's track and field (3.62), men's tennis (3.56), volleyball (3.55), men's swimming and diving (3.55), cheer and dance (3.55), and field hockey (3.51).
A total of 116 student-athletes earned straight A's for the fall semester. Those individuals were among 335 Billikens posting a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
