WSOC PREVIEW: Billikens Begin Final Week by Hosting George Mason Thursday

•Saint Louis plays its final regular-season home game of the 2024 campaign Thursday, Oct. 24, taking on George Mason. Kickoff at Hermann Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.

•Saint Louis trails Dayton (7-1 in the A-10) by one point in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings. The teams meet in the regular-season finale Sunday, Oct. 27, in Dayton.
•SLU brings an 11-game unbeaten streak (8-0-3) and a four-game winning streak into Thursday's game, most recently defeating La Salle 4-1 in Philadelphia Oct. 20.
•George Mason has lost two straight since claiming its lone A-10 victory, 2-0 over St. Bonaventure Oct. 6. The Patriots fell 2-0 to Richmond on Sunday.
•Saint Louis leads George Mason 5-3-1 overall and 2-0 at Hermann Stadium in the all-time series. The Billikens defeated the Patriots for a third straight time last year, 3-0 in Fairfax, Va. Hannah Larson and Hannah Sawyer scored a goal apiece.
•The Billikens have clinched a top-four spot in the A-10 standings and will host a quarterfinal game in the eight-team A-10 Championship Saturday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m.
•Through games of Oct. 21, SLU is 34th in the NCAA Division I Ratings Percentage Index. A-10 teams Dayton (44), UMass (46), Loyola Chicago (57) and Fordham (91) also are in the top 100.
•Katie Houck was named honorable mention on the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week for Oct. 14-20. Houck assisted on the game-winning goal and helped SLU hold Richmond without a shot in a 2-0 victory over the Spiders. In a 4-1 win at La Salle, she recorded the game-winning goal and added an assist.
•Sophia Stram will play her 100th game as a Billiken Thursday night.
•SLU ranks among the nation's top 50 teams in save percentage (.873, sixth, leads A-10), corner kicks per game (7.50, ninth, leads A-10), goal differential (+27, 14th, leads A-10), goals against average (0.57, 16th, leads A-10), shots on goal per game (8.13, 22nd), goals per game (2.25, 23rd), shutout percentage (.563, 26th, leads A-10), winning percentage (.781, 28th), total shots per game (17.50, 29th), points per game (6.31, 32nd) and assists per game (1.81, 50th).
•Emily Gaebe ranks among the top 14 nationally and leads the A-10 with 0.80 goals per game (10th), 2.27 shots on goal per game (11th), 1.80 points per game (13th), four game-winning goals (14th) and 4.40 total shots per game (14th).
•Emily Puricelli is 17th in save percentage (.862), 24th in goals against average (0.60, leads A-10) and 30th in shutouts (seven) in the national rankings.
•Through the first 16 games, 13 Billikens have scored at least one goal, and 18 Billikens have recorded at least one point.
•SLU has scored 36 goals, 26 of which have been assisted. A different player combination has accounted for 25 of the 26 assisted goals.
•In regular-season play vs. A-10 opponents, Saint Louis has a 28-game unbeaten streak. Including conference tournament games, SLU has a 37-game unbeaten streak vs. A-10 opponents.
•Saint Louis is 74-9-11 (.846) in its last 94 games at Hermann Stadium. In those 94 games, SLU outscored opponents 216-38, posted 59 shutouts, and allowed more than one goal just three times. Against A-10 opponents during the 94-game stretch, Saint Louis is 51-1-4 (39-0-4 regular season, 12-1-0 A-10 tournament) at Hermann Stadium.
•George Mason was picked to finish 13th in the A-10 this season. The Patriots were 3-15 overall and 3-7 in the conference (tied for 10th) last year.
•Aaron Brunner is in his first season as the Patriots' head coach following two years as an assistant coach at Florida State, where he helped guide the Seminoles to the 2023 national championship.
