Bills Keep Pace in A-10 Standings with Win Over GW

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis got goals from five different Billikens in a 5-0 Atlantic 10 Conference win over George Washington on Saturday night. The five goals by the Bills were a season high.

The Billikens extended their unbeaten streak to 11 and move to 6-2-7 overall and 4-0-3. They remain the lone team in the A-10 without a conference loss. George Washington dips to 3-11-2 and 1-5-1 in the league.

SLU is in a tie for second in the A-10 standings with one conference match to go, next Saturday night at Dayton. At least a share of the A-10 regular-season title is still on the table for the Billikens – they would need a win at Dayton, and VCU would need to beat first-place George Mason.

Against George Washington, Tanner Anderson began the scoring with a goal in the 34th minute. Gershon Henry and Nate Ward connected, and the centering pass found Anderson who ran onto it and put it inside the left post to make it 1-0 SLU. It was Anderson's second goal of the season.

Moments later in the 36th minute, Max Floriani made it 2-0 SLU after scoring off a corner kick. Henry again started the scoring play with the entry. Drake Fournier flicked it to the far post, where Floriani put enough pace on a shot to slip it past the GW keeper. It was Floriani's second goal of the year.

Matthew Wrobel added the Billikens' third goal in the 64th minute. Seth Anderson found his brother Tanner Anderson on the wing, who centered it to Wrobel for his fourth goal of the season and a 3-0 Billiken lead.

It was the ninth assist for the season for Seth Anderson, which leads the A-10.

Dylan Olson, who will be honored on Senior Night on Tuesday, scored his first collegiate goal in the 84th minute off an assist from Andrew Heckenlaible.

Grady Easton completed the scoring in the 86th minute, heading home a Fournier corner kick for the 5-0 final.

Jeremi Abonnel made one save for his eighth shutout of the season. He has only yielded one goal in the run of play in the last seven matches.

The Billikens host Blackburn for Senior Night on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Game time is 7 p.m. The following seniors will be honored prior to the match - Tiago Lopes, Joey Maher, Seth Anderson, Brogan Townsend, Matthew Wrobel, Luis Lara, Dylan Olson, Lawson Redmon, Jeremi Abonnel, Greg L'Hommedieu and Nate Ward.
