Season High Scoring Output Vaults Billikens

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis scored a season-high three goals Saturday night in a convincing 3-0 victory over the visiting Duquesne Dukes in Atlantic 10 Conference play at Hermann Stadium.

The Billikens improve to 4-2-4 overall and 2-0-1 in the A-10 while extending their unbeaten streak to six games. It was the first conference loss for Duquesne, which dips to 7-2-1 and 2-1 in the league.

The Billikens opened the scoring in the 22nd minute on a goal by Luis Lara, his team-leading fifth of the year. Gershon Henry sent a corner kick to the far post, where Lara headed it home to make it 1-0 Bills.

SLU got another in the 51st minute. Brogan Townsend sent a ball to Seth Anderson, who crossed it into the area where Jackson Delkus headed it home at the far post. It was Delkus' first career goal.

Nate Ward scored in the 62nd minute, his first goal as a Billiken. Anderson sent a centering pass to Ward, who buried it to make it 3-0 SLU.

With his two assists tonight, Anderson now has six on the season to lead the Atlantic 10.

The Billikens out-shot Duquesne 20-1 and had an 8-3 corner-kick advantage. The Dukes' chance was a dangerous one that came in the first half and forced SLU's Matthew Wrobel to make an athletic play to clear it off the line.

The Billikens hit the road for their two, facing Fordham on Wednesday and Rhode Island on Saturday.
