Get HER in the Game Fundraiser Raises Record Amount

ST. LOUIS – The Saint Louis University Department of Athletics enjoyed another successful "Get HER in the Game" fundraiser Thursday, Oct. 24, at the O'Loughlin Family Champions Center.

Thanks to an anonymous matching gift of $30,000, a total of more than $95,000 was raised for the scholarship - a fundraising record for the event. The Get HER in the Game fundraiser is an annual event in support of scholarship and athletics opportunities for women student-athletes at SLU.

Gifts are still being accepted and can be made by clicking here.

Emily Morden, a sophomore Neuroscience major from Timboon, Australia, of the Billikens' cross country and track and field team is the recipient of this year's Get HER in the Game scholarship. She joined an outstanding panel with alumnae Julie Matheny (B.A. in Communication, basketball), Head Softball Coach Christy Connoyer and Head Women's Basketball Coach Rebecca Tillett as they spoke about the impact of supporting women's sports and their experiences as coaches and student-athletes at SLU.

"It was a great night at the O'Loughlin Family Champions Center as we celebrated the great accomplishments of our women's student-athletes," SLU Director of Athletics Chris May said. "We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our matching gift donor who helped us raise a record amount.

"Additionally, we appreciate the support of our title sponsor, Lewis Rice, and the Missouri Athletic Club, Gourmet To Go and Cathy and Paul Pitlyk, who sponsored the cocktail reception. We would also like to thank the Get HER in the Game committee for their hard work, time and efforts. The department's commitment to excellence in women's athletics helps ensure this vital initiative will continue to thrive in the future."
