O'FALLON, Ill. – The Saint Louis women's tennis team continued its hot start to the season Wednesday afternoon, easily defeating Lindenwood 7-0 at St. Clair Tennis Club.
SLU (6-0) won two of the three doubles contests to take a 1-0 lead.
Kseniia Aleshina and
Elizabeth Mintusova blanked Yana Gaskell and Sarah Ben Aba 6-0 at No. 1, while
Norhan Hesham and
Nicolly Ferreira were 6-1 winners over Fabiana Labrador and Paola Garcia at No. 2.
The Billikens swept the singles matches, winning all but one in straight sets. Mintusova topped Garcia 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1; Aleshina outlasted Labrador 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) at No. 2;
Emmerson White turned in a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Gaskell at No. 3; Ferreira downed Ben Aba 7-5, 6-1 at No. 4;
Fiorella Duran got past Juliana Kulczynski 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5; and
Lizzie Barlow claimed a 6-1, 6-2 win over Jordan Le at No. 6.
"This was one of the most complete collectively good starts we have had in singles this year," head coach
Justin Stuckey said. "I was really proud of how we did not relax after doubles and kept our intensity."
