SLU Tennis Teams in South Carolina for Busy Spring Break Trip

The Saint Louis women's and men's tennis teams are in Hilton Head, S.C., this week to play three matches apiece Tuesday-Thursday, March 12-14. The Billiken women take on Rider, Atlantic 10 Conference opponent George Washington and West Virginia State. The Billiken men face Rider, Hillsdale and West Virginia State.

WOMEN
Saint Louis (8-0) set the program record for best start to a season by defeating Western Illinois 7-0 in the Billikens' most recent match on March 6.
 
Emmerson White was named A-10 Rookie of the Week for Feb. 26-March 3, her second Rookie of the Week honor. White is 7-0 in singles and 5-1 in doubles this spring.
 
Sandra Gines also is undefeated (5-0) in duals, while Elizabeth Mintusova and Nicolly Ferreira are 6-1 and 5-1, respectively. SLU is a collective 33-8 in completed singles matches.
 
The Billikens have won 18 of 21 completed doubles contests in dual competition. Ferreira and Norhan Hesham lead the way at 7-0, Kseniia Aleshina is 5-0, and Gines is 4-0.
 
Rider, a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, is 2-7 including a 7-0 loss to George Washington. George Washington carried a 1-7 record into its Tuesday match vs. South Carolina State. West Virginia State, which competes in the NCAA Division II Mountain East Conference, brings a 3-2 mark into its match with SLU.
 
MEN
The Billikens are 7-2 after splitting two matches vs. A-10 rivals. SLU defeated Davidson 4-2 March 8 and fell 4-0 to Dayton March 10, snapping a seven-match winning streak.
 
Theo Ortis continues to lead the team in dual singles play with a 6-1 record. Andres Castellanos is 3-0 following his return from injury.
 
Luca Lo Nardo (6-2) and Valentin Vasquez (5-1) own Saint Louis' best doubles records this spring.
 
Rider is 2-12 including a 4-0 loss to A-10 member Richmond. Hillsdale, a member of the NCAA Division II Great Midwest Athletic Conference, was 4-5 prior to Tuesday's match vs. Quincy. West Virginia State was 1-3 heading into its match vs. Tusculum on Tuesday.
