HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Saint Louis won a closely contested doubles point and two of three super tiebreakers in singles play in a 6-1 victory over Hillsdale Wednesday evening.
The Billikens improved to 9-2.
Luca Lo Nardo and
Valentin Vasquez got things rolling for SLU with a 6-4 No. 3 doubles win over Daniel Gilbert and Henry Hammond. That was followed by a 6-4 victory for
Ryota Fukushima and
Theo Ortis over Sean Barstow and Aidan Pack at No. 1.
Declan Townsend made it 2-0, breezing past Ellis Klanduch 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Ortis overcame a first-set loss to Hammond and prevailed 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-3) at No. 5, and Lo Nardo secured the Saint Louis win with a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Barstow at No. 3.
Fukushima topped Pack 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1, while Vasquez posted a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5) triumph over Gilbert at No. 6.
"Doubles was a lot better today," head coach

The Billikens conclude their spring break trip Thursday with a match vs. West Virginia State at 7:20 a.m. Central.
