DES MOINES, Iowa – Saint Louis track and field broke several school records this weekend as the Billikens were split between the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open at Simpson College.
Mikayla McDowell ran a new school-record time in the 400 meters at the Drake Relays, finishing in 54.07. That is the fastest time in the A-10 this season.
Two relay teams broke school records as well at the Drake Relays.
Emily Nichols,
Patricia O'Neill, McDowell and
Riley Franz finished the sprint medley relay in 3:56.01 for a school record.
On the men's side, the sprint medley team of
Will Stewart,
Danny Hopkins,
Aidan Martin and
Malik Stewart posted a new school record of 3:26.59.
Other strong performances by the Billikens included
Journey Amundson winning the triple jump with a mark of 12.42.
Samantha Kunza placed third in the hammer throw, reaching 209-2.
Harrison Martinenko finished as the runner-up in the 1,500 meters at the Drake Relays, crossing the finish in a PR of 3:44.39.
The Billikens are next in action at the Atlantic 10 Conference Outdoor Championships, which will be held next weekend, May 4-5, at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
