STILLWATER, Okla. – Saint Louis men's tennis won the doubles point and followed with four singles victories to defeat Oral Roberts 5-2 Thursday afternoon.
It was the first win for first-year SLU head coach
James Tobin.
Luca Lo Nardo and
Andres Castellanos got the Billikens off to a good start, teaming for a 6-1 No. 1 doubles victory over Lucas Couy and Richardo Filho. After Oral Roberts prevailed at No. 2,
Max Chen and
Sebastian Munoz put Saint Louis up 1-0 by defeating Parv Nage and Ryan Holloway 6-4 at No. 3.
Lo Nardo's 6-2, 6-3 win over Jonathan Evans at No. 3 singles gave the Bills a 2-1 lead, and
Riki Koshimizu made it 3-2 by ousting Holloway 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5. Castellanos clinched SLU's first victory of the season by downing Eli Brewer 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2.
Declan Townsend added the final point, outlasting Filho 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-1) at No. 1.
The Billikens remain in Stillwater to take on Oklahoma State Friday at 5 p.m.
