Amundson Named Top 30 Candidate for NCAA Woman of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS – Saint Louis University's Journey Amundson has been announced as a national Top 30 honoree for the 2025 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Established in 1991, the award is rooted in Title IX and recognizes female student-athletes who have completed their undergraduate studies and distinguished themselves in their community, in athletics and in academics throughout their college careers.

"On behalf of Billiken Athletics, we congratulate Journey on this distinguished honor," SLU Director of Athletics Chris May said. "Journey represents the very best of what it means to be a Billiken – achieving success in the classroom, in competition and in the community. We couldn't be more proud of Journey and we are thrilled that she is being recognized as one of the elite women student-athletes in the NCAA."

Selected from a record-breaking 631 nominees submitted by member schools — a group that was then narrowed to 167 nominees at the conference level — the Top 30 honorees include 10 from each of the three NCAA divisions. Each honoree has demonstrated excellence in academics, athletics, community service and leadership. The honorees competed in a total of 14 NCAA championship sports and two NCAA Emerging Sports for Women. They have a variety of majors, including chemistry, mathematics, biology, education, engineering, psychology, nursing, computer science, journalism, sport management and more.

From these 30 finalists, the Woman of the Year Selection Committee will choose the 2025 NCAA Woman of the Year, who will be announced this fall and recognized at the NCAA Convention in January.

Amundson graduated last May with a Master of Public Health, was named to the CSC Academic All-District team and was voted Academic All-Conference..

A two-time A-10 triple jump champion, Amundson concluded her Billiken career as the school-record holder in the indoor and outdoor triple jump, as well as the indoor long jump. Additionally, she twice qualified for the NCAA Championships. Amundson began her collegiate career at Macalaster College in Saint Paul, Minn., where she competed in several NCAA Division III Championships in the long jump and triple jump.

Amundson spoke at the 2025 NCAA Convention after being chosen as the most accomplished cohort member of the NCAA x Meta NIL Empower Program. She works as the Chief Expansion Officer at Top Tier Lessons, scaling mentorship and NIL opportunities for more than 400 student-athletes nationwide. She also creates NIL education and brand-building events for her peers.

She is the first A-10 student-athlete since 2018 to be recognized as a Top 30 honoree for NCAA Woman of the Year.
