ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis senior goalkeeper Jeremi Abonnel made several dazzling saves as the Billikens and Dayton played to a scoreless draw Saturday night in Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer action at Hermann Stadium.
The 21st-ranked Billikens move to 5-2-4 overall and 2-0-1 in A-10 play. The Flyers are now 3-1-6 and 2-0-2 in the league.
Abonnel finished with a season-high-tying five saves. In the first half, he stopped a shot with his feet as Dayton threatened. Abonnel turned aside a shot that was curling in by diving to his left in the second half, helping to secure his sixth clean sheet of the season.
Dayton out-shot the Billikens 9-5, while SLU had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Billikens played a man down for the majority of the match as Carlos Leatherman was issued a red card for denying a goal-scoring opportunity in the 22nd minute.Â
Dayton leading scorer Ethan Sissine received a red card in the 80th minute for a dangerous foul, so the final 10 minutes were played 10-on-10.Â
The Billikens play two road games next week, Wednesday (Oct. 8) at George Washington and Saturday (Oct. 11) at VCU.
