CHAMPIONS! Billikens Win A-10 Crown in Shootout

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis prevailed 5-4 in a penalty kick shootout on Sunday to capture the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Soccer Championship over Dayton at Hermann Stadium.

The Billikens earn the A-10's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. The field will be announced during the Selection Show Monday (Nov. 17) at noon (CT) on NCAA.com.

It is the fifth A-10 Championship crown for Saint Louis and the first since 2023. The Bills will be making their NCAA-record 52nd NCAA Tournament and its fourth in the last five years.

Jeremi Abonnel was named MVP of the A-10 Championship. He made a save in the PK shootout and converted the Billikens' chance in the fourth round. Tanner Anderson buried the clincher in the shootout to start the celebration.

The Billikens had to rally in regulation trophy on Sunday. Dayton's Miles Bonham scored in the 34th minute to put the Flyers ahead 1-0.

That remained the score until the 82nd minute when Theo Franca scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season off an assist by Andrew Heckenlaible.

Neither team scored in the two 10-minute overtime sessions, setting up a penalty-kick shootout to decide the A-10 champ.

Abonnel saved the first Dayton chance, and the Billikens converted all five of theirs. For SLU, Quinten Blair, Jack DiMaria, JC Cortez, Abonnel and Tanner Anderson (clincher) all converted their chances.

Earning a spot on the All-Championship team for SLU was Jeremi Abonnel (MVP), Tanner Anderson, Quinten Blair, Theo Franca and Xavi O'Neill.
