THE BILLIKENS-HOOSIERS SERIES
-- Indiana leads 25-18-5 in a series dating to 1959.Â
-- Earlier this season, Indiana defeated the Bills 1-0 on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium on a seventh-minute goal by Collins Oduro. Last year, the Billikens defeated Indiana 2-0 at Hermann Stadium, ending the Hoosiers' seven-game winning streak in the series.Â
-- The last SLU win against the Hoosiers in Bloomington was a 1-0 overtime winner on Sept. 5, 1999. SLU senior Jeff DiMaria scored the game-winning goal in that game. Jeff's son, Jack, is a freshman on this year's Billiken team.
-- This will be the sixth time the Billikens and Hoosiers will meet in NCAA Tournament action. IU owns a 5-0 lead in NCAA games. Most recently, the teams met in the second round in the 2022 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship, with the Hoosiers prevailing 1-0 on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. In fact, all NCAA Tournament games against the two teams have been in Bloomington.
LAST TIME OUT
-- Jack DiMaria scored the 86th minute equalizer, then the golden goal in double overtime to vault the Billikens to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Kentucky Thursday in the first round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship at Hermann Stadium.
-- The goals for DiMaria were the first of his career. With the Bills trailing 1-0 late, he sent a long shot in at the 85:56 mark that the Kentucky keeper couldn't corral to make it 1-1 SLU.
-- Neither team scored in the first 10-minute overtime session before DiMaria ended it nearly four minutes into the second OT. Carlos Leatherman did much of the work on the right flank. He sent a ball across the face and DiMaria was there to tap it in and send the crowd of 1,000+ at Hermann Stadium into a frenzy.
-- The Billikens played from behind as Kentucky scored early in the match.Â
