WASHINGTON – Saint Louis swept the weekly Under Armour Men's and Women's Track and Field Performer of the Week awards, the league announced today.
Billiken senior Chase Pitre, senior Tristan Boatman and freshman JD Haines captured Men's Track, Field and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively. On the women's side, Billikens sophomore Katie Kocan and junior Libby Williams earned Women's Track and Field Performer, respectively, while their freshman teammate Meredith Drylie collected Rookie of the Week. The awards are for competitions from Dec. 8 to Dec. 14.
Pitre, a native of Chicago, Ill., registered a PR in the 600 meters at the Indiana Early Bird, finishing in a time of 1:21.22. It was the second-fastest time ever by a Billiken. He also ran a leg on Saint Louis' 4x400-meter relay that finished in a time of 3:17.58.
Boatman, from Dandridge, Tenn., competed in both the weight throw and the shot put, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively. His weight throw mark of 17.67 meters ranks second in the conference.
Haines ran the 800 meters at the Indiana Early Bird, placing fourth overall with a time of 1:55.67. The Indianapolis, Ind., native ran the second-fastest time in the A-10 so far this season.
Kocan competed in the 60 meters and 200 meters at the Indiana Early Bird. She finished the 60 meters in 7.74 seconds, a PR and the second-fastest time in Saint Louis history. Kocan, a Ft. Mitchell, Ky. native, also raced to a time of 26.41 in the 200 meters. Her 60-meter time ranks tied for fourth in the conference.
Williams, a native of St. Augustine, Fla., competed in both the weight throw and the shot put, finishing fifth and seventh, respectively. Her shot put mark of 11.11 meters ranks fourth in the conference and her weight throw distance of 13.30 meters is sixth in the A-10.
Drylie ran the 600 meters at the Indiana Early Bird and finished in a time of 1:40.28. The Centerville, Ohio native finished seventh in the event.
The Billikens are on semester break and return to action Jan. 16 at the Show-Me Showdown at the University of Missouri.
