ST. LOUIS – The top triple jumper in school history improved her distance even further Saturday at the Billiken Invitational at the SLU Medical Center Recreational Complex.
Journey Amundson posted a mark of 12.81 meters to break her own school record and set a facility record. That distance ranks first in the Atlantic 10 Conference this season and is among the top 20 in the NCAA so far this year.
It was one of four school records posted on the weekend. On Thursday at the Washington University Distance Carnival, Emily Morden broke the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:55.30.
On Friday at the SLU Power & Speed Festival, a pair of freshmen broke school records. Griffin Kimbrel reached 4.55 meters in the pole vault for the new SLU standard. Sam Lamaze ran 47.68 in the 400 meters for the school record.
The Billikens are in action again Saturday, April 5, with a home meet at the SLU Medical Center Recreational Complex. Stay tuned to SLUBillikens.com for the meet schedule and heat sheets.
