ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis got a goal from senior defender Grady Easton and the Billikens shut down their opponent for the third straight game in a 1-0 victory over Seton Hall Saturday at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.
The win lifts the Billikens' record to 2-0-1 overall. Seton Hall dips to 1-1-1.Â
Saint Louis has started the season with three consecutive shutouts for the first time since 1999. Jeremi Abonnel made one save for the shutout, but that one save was dazzling. He dove to his right and got a glove on a second-half Seton Hall shot that was destined for the back of the net.
Easton's goal, the fourth of his career, came after a corner kick. Carlos Leatherman sent the ball to the edge of the box for Braydon Sellers, who centered a ball that Easton headed home. It was the second game-winning goal of Easton's career.
A Seton Hall player was sent off with a red card in the 64th minute, forcing the Pirates to play a man down the rest of the way.Â
Shots were in favor of the Billikens, 10-4, and SLU had a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Saint Louis hits the road for the first time this year on Wednesday when it takes on Indiana in Bloomington. Game time is 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT.
