ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis freshman Nick Schramm recorded his first collegiate goal Tuesday night as No. 7 Saint Louis played to a 1-1 draw against Missouri State at Hermann Stadium.
The Billikens, ranked No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches poll, move to 3-1-3 on the year. Missouri State is now 3-1-2. It is the fifth straight game in the SLU/Missouri State series that ended in a tie.
Schramm's goal came in the 53rd minute. Jackson Delkus had a long throw-in that bounced in the penalty area. Schramm found it and hammered it home for his first-career tally.
Moments later, Missouri State equalized when Daniele Aracri put one past SLU keeper Jeremi Abonnel. A cross came into the box and it was deflected away by the SLU defense. But it went right to the top of the box and Aracri fired inside the left post to make it 1-1.
Both teams had chances down the stretch but neither could find the back of the net.
SLU outshot the Bears 8-7 and had a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Billikens hit the road for two tough matches. SLU visits Duquesne for the Atlantic 10 Conference opener on Saturday, then heads to Akron to face the 10th-ranked Zips on next Tuesday.
