WASHINGTON – Saint Louis freshman forward Theo Franca was named the Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer co-Rookie of the Week, the league announced.
Franca scored the game-winning goal in the Billikens' 1-0 win Saturday at Duquesne in the A-10 opener. It came at the 5:46 mark in the first half. Andrew Heckenlaible took possession after a Duquesne takeaway. He broke away from the defense and fired a shot that was saved by the Dukes keeper. But Franca was there and buried the rebound for the only goal the Bills would need.
Franca leads the Bills with two goals on the season. His other tally came in the 2-1 SLU victory against SIUE.
Saint Louis is back in action on Tuesday when it takes on the Akron Zips. Game time in Akron, Ohio, is set for 6 p.m. (CT). The game will be televised on ESPNU.
