WASHINGTON – Saint Louis freshman Nick Schramm was named the Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer Rookie of the Week, the league announced today.
It is the second straight week a Billiken has claimed the award. Last week, SLU freshman Theo Franca earned the honor after scoring the Billikens' game-winning goal at Duquesne.
Schramm scored the game-winning tally Saturday against La Salle in the 78th minute. Carlos Leatherman started the scoring play with an entry to Abdoul Karim Pare. He then sent a ball across the goal mouth where Schramm fired it home to put the Billikens on top 2-1.
The Billikens hung on to win 2-1 over La Salle. SLU (5-2-3, 2-0) is the lone A-10 team without a loss or a tie in league play.
Schramm is second on the Bills with two goals on the year.
The Billikens continue A-10 play Saturday night when they host Dayton at Hermann Stadium on SLU Soccer Alumni Night. Game time is 7 p.m. The Flyers are also unbeaten in league play with a 2-0-1 record.
