WASHINGTON – Saint Louis senior forward Axel Torres has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Torres scored twice in the Billikens' 4-1 victory over VCU Saturday night at Robert R. Hermann Stadium, helping the Bills secure an important A10 victory.

Torres opened the scoring in the 30th minute, finishing a chance created by Jackson Delkus and JC Cortez. Torres struck again in the 66th minute off an assist from Xavi O'Neil to give the Billikens an important insurance goal and a 3-1 advantage.

The two-goal outing continued a recent scoring surge for Torres, who has scored three goals over the last three Billiken games. His three goals this season are the first of his career.

The Billikens improved to 6-4-3 overall and 4-1-1 in A10 play with Saturday's victory over VCU.

Up next, Saint Louis hosts North Florida on Tuesday, Oct. 20, in its final nonconference match of the season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.
