SLU leads 5-1-2 |
No. 2 seed Saint Louis hosts third-seed Davidson in the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Soccer Tournament semifinals on Tuesday. Game time at Hermann Stadium is 4 p.m.
SLU advanced to the A10 semifinal with a 1-0 victory over Dayton on Friday. Andrew Heckenlaible scored the game-winning goal for the Billikens in the 59th minute, and the Billiken defense yielded just two Dayton shots in the shutout. The Wildcats advanced in PKs over Rhode Island in a match that began Friday, was delayed by weather, and was finished on Saturday morning. All four goals in regulation came in the final 20 minutes.Â
The Billikens and Wildcats met in the regular-season finale on Oct. 31, a 1-1 draw in Davidson, N.C. The Billikens got on the board in that game with an 89th-minute goal by Tanner Anderson, but Davidson equalized just 23 seconds later. SLU and Davidson also met in the A10 semifinals last year, with the Billikens claiming a 1-0 victory at Hermann Stadium.
The winner of Tuesday's match advances to the A10 Tournament final, which will be played on Saturday, Nov. 14. No. 1-seed and host Duquesne and No. 4 Fordham meet Tuesday at noon (CT) in the other semifinal. The winner of the A10 Tournament receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship.
