Boatman Breaks School Record as Billikens Shine at ISU Open

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Saint Louis University closed out the indoor regular season with a strong showing Saturday at the Indiana State Open, highlighted by multiple personal records, several finals appearances and a school record in the weight throw.

Senior Tristan Boatman delivered the performance of the meet for the Billikens, breaking a long-standing school record in the weight throw. On his first attempt, Boatman uncorked a throw of 19.10 meters, surpassing the previous program mark set in 2011 by Justin Kwasa.

On the track, Saint Louis produced several standout efforts in the sprints and hurdles. In the men's 60-meter hurdles, Ethan Bryant (8.41) and Dalton Ross (8.48) both advanced to the finals before finishing seventh and eighth, respectively. On the women's side, Kate Hartley and Nora Kiley each recorded personal bests in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking 9.28 and 9.49, respectively.

The Billikens were well represented in the 60-meter dash. Will Stewart ran 6.93 in the prelims to qualify for the finals, where he placed sixth overall. Katie Kocan advanced to the women's 60 finals with a time of 7.82 and went on to finish fifth in the championship race.

Distance events also proved fruitful for Saint Louis, particularly in the women's mile. Emily Morden recorded a new PR of 4:54.25, finishing second overall in a highly competitive field. Tegan Bishop and Parker Allen each posted PRs as well, running 5:16.25 and 5:17.56, respectively.

In the field events, Jayden Kouadio equaled his PR in the high jump, clearing 1.98 meters, while Libby Williams opened the weight throw competition with a PR of 14.16 meters to advance to the finals and earn additional throws.

Next up for the Billikens are the A-10 Indoor Championships, set for next weekend in Virginia Beach, Va.
