Billikens Advance with 4-0 Win over Saint Joseph's

ORLANDO, Fla. – No. 7 seed Saint Louis captured a tightly contested doubles point, two dominant singles victories and a come-from-behind three-set singles win to defeat No. 10 Saint Joseph's 4-0 in an Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship first-round match Wednesday night at the USTA National Campus.
 
The Billikens advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 2 VCU Thursday at 6 p.m. Central.
 
Aryn Walker and Naima Luthra prevailed in a tough No. 2 doubles match to clinch the point for the Billikens, defeating Elena Fleming and June Tronhus 7-6 (8-6). Nicolly Ferreira and Fiorella Duran were 6-3 winners over Gisele Tang and Brooke Tackett at No. 3.
 
Emmerson White and Duran cruised at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. White downed Wiktoria Czerny 6-3, 6-1, while Duran ousted Valeria Casusol 6-0, 6-3.
 
With matches at Nos. 3, 5 and 6 still in question, Luthra brushed aside a first-set loss and stormed past Victoria Tracey 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 to win the decisive point.
