MEDIA, Pa. – Saint Louis men's tennis split a pair of matches vs. Atlantic 10 Conference opponents Thursday and Friday, falling 5-0 to Saint Joseph's before rebounding for a 4-3 victory over George Mason.
 
The Billikens began the George Mason match by winning the doubles point. Declan Townsend and Luca Lo Nardo cruised past Shari Saeed and Deniz Okyay 6-1 at No. 2, while Valentin Vasquez and Andres Castellanos defeated Niza Simunyola and Nicholas Novitski 6-4 at No. 3.
 
Five of the six singles contests went to a super-tiebreaker, and SLU prevailed in three of those matches. Townsend posted a come-from-behind 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-4), 10-7 victory over Okyay at No. 1; Adrien Ducruet downed Simunyola 7-6, 3-6, 10-7 at No. 4; and Lo Nardo topped Zavan Fahim 6-1, 4-6, 10-4 at No. 5.
 
In the Saint Joseph's match, Lo Nardo and Townsend teamed for a 6-2 win over Davi Carlos and Jakob Gaudreau Barnes at No. 2 doubles.
 
The Billikens conclude the regular season Thursday, April 16, vs. Northern Kentucky in Mason, Ohio.
